How-To
How to tag an address?
Do you want to mark an address as trusted? Or some Ethereum address has done you wrong? You can simple select one of the already existing tags for these situations (TRUSTED / SCAMMER / etc.)
and tag the address you want with them.
<<< Click here to see a step by step guide on how to do it! >>>
>>> Hide step by step guide <<<
-
Check you are in tab "Tag address".
-
Select the tag you want to use.
-
Put the Ethereum address you want to tag in the "Address to tag" field. In this example, we are using address "0x1010101010101010101010101010101010101010".
-
Double-check address. Confirm if the address is well written and matches the address you want to receive the tag.
-
Check if you have in your Ethereum wallet the value needed for the tagging. At this moment only 0.005 Ether needed, so we can support our website and bring improvements and new features to our ecosystem.
-
Press "Tag selected address" button
-
If you are using MetaMask, it should display now its pop-up asking to confirm the sending of the Transaction to our contract
-
Press the "Confirm" button, to confirm the transaction and send it to the Ethereum network
-
You will see a message on the button, confirming the transaction was sent:
You can check how the Ethereum network is processing your transaction by clicking on the link mentioned in that message.
Until the transaction is confirmed it can take more or less time depending on the conditions of the Ethereum network, but it shouldn't take long.
-
When the transaction has been executed by the Ethereum network you will see the following message:
MetaMask will also show a popup window in the bottom right informing you of that:
-
After the transaction being executed and distributed throughout the Ethereum network, you can see in the address your tagging.
For example, if the address of the receiver was "0x1010101010101010101010101010101010101010", you could access its wallet
at https://ethplorer.io/address/0x1010101010101010101010101010101010101010,
and see the address with your tag:
It will appear both in the "Balances" and in the latest "Transfers", so if anyone checks that address with websites ethplorer.io, etherscan.io or other (with compatibility with ERC-20 tokens), he/she
will be able to see it in that wallet address and be alerted.
-
You can check the taggings you do using the "Track taggings" button.
You can see in the following example the tagging you made of address "0x1010101010101010101010101010101010101010":
You can see it was made 21 minutes ago to address "0x1010101010101010101010101010101010101010".
Clicking on that address ("0x1010101010101010101010101010101010101010") on this screen (on column "To") will show you all other taggings that address has gotten from other users.

If you don't put nothing in this field it will auto generate one for you, starting with "TAG" plus a number.

You will see a message on the button, confirming the transaction was sent:

When the transaction has been executed by the Ethereum network you will see the following message:
MetaMask will also show a popup window in the bottom right informing you of that:

You can check your owner balance for the tags you created, in this tab:
The "Owner balance" is how many taggings you can do for free for a certain tag. The "Total taggings" is how many times your tag has been used to do a tagging (including also your own free taggings).
For each tag you create, you can tag it for free 100 times, more than enough for everything you can think of. But, if even then not enough, you can still continue tagging it with a big discount.
